The Goal of Neuroscience
The goal of Neuroscience is to understand the role of the nervous system in regulating physiological processes. This rapidly developing field has a broad domain that ranges from the cellular and molecular control of brain cells to the regulation of responses in whole organisms. As an interdisciplinary area of study, Neuroscience combines many traditional fields including Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy, and Physiology. Neuroscience has a strong tradition at Tulane both as an area of study and research in traditional departments, and more recently with the development of a formal graduate program in Neuroscience comprised of faculty on both campuses. |
